چکیده

Radial basis function interpolation involves two stages. The first is fitting, solving a linear system corresponding to the interpolation conditions. The second is evaluation. The systems occuring in fitting problems are often very ill-conditioned. Changing the basis in which the radial basis function space is expressed can greatly improve the conditioning of these systems resulting in improved accuracy, and in the case of iterative methods improved speed, of solution. Change of basis can also improve the accuracy of evaluation by reducing loss of significance errors. In this paper new bases for the relevant space of approximants, and associated preconditioning schemes are developed which are based on Floater’s mean value coordinates. Positivity results and scale independence results are shown for schemes of a general type. Numerical results show that the given preconditioning scheme usually improves conditioning of polyharmonic spline and multiquadric interpolation problems in R and R by several orders of magnitude. Theory indicates that using the new basis elements (evaluated indirectly) for both fitting and evaluation will reduce loss of significance errors on evaluation. Numerical experiments confirm this showing that such an approach can improve overall accuracy by several significant figures.

Approximation of a Fuzzy Function by Using Radial Basis Functions Interpolation

In the present paper, Radial Basis Function interpolations are applied to approximate a fuzzy function $tilde{f}:Rrightarrow mathcal{F}(R)$, on a discrete point set $X={x_1,x_2,ldots,x_n}$, by a fuzzy-valued function $tilde{S}$. RBFs are based on linear combinations of terms which include a single univariate function. Applying RBF to approximate a fuzzy function, a linear system wil...

A new trust-region algorithm based on radial basis function interpolation

Optimization using radial basis functions as an interpolation tool in trust-region (ORBIT), is a derivative-free framework based on fully linear models to solve unconstrained local optimization, especially when the function evaluations are computationally expensive. This algorithm stores the interpolation points and function values to using at subsequent iterations. Despite the comparatively ad...

A cubic radial basis function in the MLPG method for beam problems

A non-compactly supported cubic radial basis function implementation of the MLPG method for beam problems is presented. The evaluation of the derivatives of the shape functions obtained from the radial basis function interpolation is much simpler than the evaluation of the moving least squares shape function derivatives. The radial basis MLPG yields results as accurate or better than those obta...

Buckling of Doubly Clamped Nano-Actuators in General form Through Spectral Meshless Radial Point Interpolation (SMRPI)

The present paper is devoted to the development of a kind of spectral meshless radial point interpolation (SMRPI) technique in order to obtain a reliable approximate solution for buckling of nano-actuators subject to different nonlinear forces. To end this aim, a general type of the governing equation for nano-actuators, containing integro-differential terms and nonlinear forces is considered. ...

Numerical Simulation of 1D Linear Telegraph Equation With Variable Coefficients Using Meshless Local Radial Point Interpolation (‎MLRPI)

In the current work, we implement the meshless local radial point interpolation (MLRPI) method to find numerical solution of one-dimensional linear telegraph equations with variable coefficients. The MLRPI method, as a meshless technique, does not require any background integration cells and all integrations are carried out locally over small quadrature domains of regular shapes, such as lines ...
